CHAPTER 21

It is time for you to see me.

Kosh’s words burned in her mind, but still she refused to listen to them.

“No, I won’t. I’ve changed my mind. Leave me alone!”

But it is time. You are ready.

“I’ll never be ready!”

Curled on her bed in a fetal position, eyes shut tightly, Martina Coles felt as if she were about to be torn apart. There was sanctuary neither in sleeping nor in wakefulness. Demons waited for her in both. Aliens.

The door opened, letting out a fog of methane which brushed over her faceplate.

She went in, and the door closed behind her.

Kosh was there, rising out of the cloud to stand before her.

She asked, “What is it you know? What have you seen?”

Here...

Kosh’s thoughts opened momentarily to her, in a floodlike light.

“Ohhhh!” she cried, as she was overcome by what washed over her.

And then she was in a place where there were not even dreams...
